PRACTICING THE INTERVIEW
1:00 – 3:00, by appointment

Sign up for a valuable opportunity to practice your interview skills. Mills faculty Elmaz Abinader, Diane Cady, Tarah Demant, Kirsten Saxton, Cynthia Scheinberg, Truong Tran, and Kara Wittman will hold 20-minute “mock” interviews for positions in Composition, Literature, and Creative Writing classrooms. Interviews will be held by committee (students will participate in a group interview with at least 2 faculty members.)

If you are interested in signing up for a practice interview, contact Rex Leonowicz at, leonowitch@gmail.com, and indicate which area (composition, literature, or creative writing) you’re interested in. If you are requesting more than one interview slot, please rank your order of preference. Depending on space, we may be able to accommodate multiple interviews for those interested in practicing for different sorts of positions.

Once you sign up for an interview slot, Rex will send further instructions. Job descriptions/postings for each area will be posted on the English Department Blackboard site. You’ll be asked to send a practice CV and letter of intent in advance of the interview. It’s fine if your CV and letter are works in progress—this is a chance for you to create a first draft.
